Kinetic IT is proud to announce its official recognition as a Silver Member of the Australian Defence Force Reserves and Employer Support (ADFRES) and Supportive Employer Program (SEP).
The acknowledgement comes at the same time as the Australian owned and operated organisation also receives Veteran Friendly Employer-status from the Australian Department of Veteran Affairs.
The recognition of Kinetic IT through these two prestigious titles affirms the Australian company’s ongoing commitment to supporting ADF reservists and the broader Defence community.
ADF Supportive Employer Program explained
Awarded by the Australian Department of Defence, Kinetic IT is now certified as an organisation that not only complies with the Defence Reserve Service (Protection) Act 2001 but has demonstrated a sustained commitment over at least two years to supporting employees rendering Reserve Service.
As a Silver Member, Kinetic IT joins a select group of employers who actively support the ADF mission and contribute to advancing Australia’s national interest.
“Finding a civilian employer who supports Reserve Service is incredibly important for ADF members,” said Kinetic IT’s Leighton Freene, Group Executive – Federal, Defence and Emergency Services.
“Our policies, actions, and partnerships reflect our deep respect for the service and contribution of our reservists.”
A Track Record of Support
Currently, Kinetic IT employs more than 50 veterans with varying backgrounds in the Defence sector.
For many years, Kinetic IT has undertaken a range of meaningful initiatives and partnerships in support of veterans, reservists, and first responders across Australia:
- Gold Partner with Working Spirit: After collaborating informally, Kinetic IT signed a two-year national partnership with the Western Australian-founded veteran employment support organisation in October 2024.
- Networking Events: Participation in Working Spirit and RSL WA-hosted veteran, military family, and emergency services networking events in May, July, and November.
- Social Connection: Hosted our first Veterans and First Responders Social Catch-Up in WA. First responders include those who have served as well as volunteers in the community.
- Veteran Rugby Sponsorship: Committed to a four-year $20,000 partnership with the ACT Veterans Rugby Union Club, supporting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Veterans Association (ATSIVA) and other Defence charities.
- Indigenous Participation in Defence: Partnered with the Noongar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and engaged in the ‘Defence Supplier Yarn’ event to promote Indigenous pathways into Defence-related tech careers.
- Veteran Friendly Employer Accreditation: As mentioned, Kinetic IT has been recognised by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs as a Veteran Friendly Employer for creating inclusive and meaningful employment pathways for veterans in tech.
- Working Spirit Careers Summit: Planned attendance in June to strengthen recruitment from the veteran and emergency services communities.
A Culture of Inclusion and Respect
Kinetic IT’s support for reservists goes beyond policy, Community Engagement Manager Christine Victor says.
“We’re proud to have many veterans in our crew, especially across our Federal, Defence and Emergency Services work. Their lived experience gives us a real understanding of the Defence environment and helps us deliver technology that supports those who serve.”
Kinetic IT also maintains Platinum Pledge status with Soldier On, a not-for-profit organisation delivering holistic support services that enable current and former Australian Defence Force personnel, and their families, to lead meaningful civilian lives.
Looking Ahead
As part of our ongoing commitment, Kinetic IT will continue to:
- Create inclusive workplace opportunities for Defence personnel
- Support flexibility for employees fulfilling Reserve duties
- Promote national service and engagement through our partnerships and community outreach
“Recognition as a Silver Member in the SEP program reflects more than compliance – it signals our deep respect for those who serve, and a genuine desire to make Kinetic IT a workplace where veterans, reservists, and first responders thrive,” Christine says.
