Western Australian Police Force and Kinetic IT continue IT services partnership 1

Keeping the world’s largest policing jurisdiction connected is at the heart of a $250 million Provision of ICT Services engagement between the Western Australian Police Force and Kinetic IT.

Comprising four service towers, the Western Australian Police Force selected Kinetic IT, a privately owned and sovereign Australia technology company, to deliver the services under the agreement. All services have now transitioned into live support.

The two organisations have an enduring, two decade-long connection after first collaborating in 2008 on ICT infrastructure service delivery under contract 42007 Provision of Infrastructure Services.

The new agreement WAPOL04124 Provision of ICT Infrastructure Services to the Western Australia Police Forces sees Kinetic IT providing support for the Western Australian Police Force’s 15 districts, more than 200 police facilities, approximately 6,800 police officers, and 2,000 supporting police staff across 2.5 million square kilometres.

Each service tower has an initial term between three to five years, with options for the Western Australian Police Force to extend each service line between two to three years. The contract’s total value is approximately $250 million.

Kinetic IT is now responsible for delivering day-to-day IT operations support for the Western Australian Police Force, including service desk, incident and change management, ServiceNow support, cyber security monitoring and governance, and the ongoing management of cloud platforms, servers, storage, and backups.

Kinetic IT also looks after end-user services such as desktop and field support at remote sites, modern Microsoft 365 and meeting room technology, and a desktop-as-a-service model that keeps staff devices secure, current, and reliable through regular fleet refreshes.

Managing Director for Defence, Federal Government and National Security, Leighton Freene, said the organisation is proud to continue its support for the Western Australian Police Force.

“Kinetic IT has been proud to stand alongside the Western Australian Police Force day-to-day for nearly 20 years, and during some of the most significant moments in recent history – from supporting the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in 2011 to the Force’s technology response during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our teams work shoulder-to-shoulder with the Western Australian Police Force to ensure the technology the frontline relies on is resilient, secure, and ready, whether it’s a routine day or a moment of national importance. This new agreement reinforces our work together, built on shared purpose, long-term commitment and a focus on enabling the WA Police Force to continue serving and protecting the Western Australian community.”
