Kinetic IT acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands on which we work, and tens of thousands of years of knowledge and technology that Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples have developed and passed down through each generation. We pay our respects to the Elders past and present.
As we bid farewell to NAIDOC Week 2024, Kinetic IT are reflecting on a journey of learning and growth as we walk together towards the future.
This year’s NAIDOC Week saw crew from across Australia join in a Virtual Yarning Circle hosted by our partners at Evolve Communities, as we explored the significance of NAIDOC Week and this year’s theme – Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud – which honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations people, communities and culture.
Over at our head office in Perth, crew came together to participate in an Aboriginal art activity facilitated by Service Desk Technician and Wiradjuri woman Alice Waters, learning about the meaning behind symbols and the place of art in cultural expression.
Several crew also attended the NAIDOC Perth Gala at the Crown Ballroom, with a great Welcome to Country by Uncle Nick Abraham, performances by Pipeline Band, Natasha Blurton, the Koodas dance troupe from Bibbulman Country, a performance group from Zenadh Kes/Torres Strait Islands and the beloved musical icon Jessica Mauboy.
Kinetic IT has entered the second half of its current Reconciliation Action Plan period, we’ve had some time to reflect thoughtfully as we prepare for the next steps of our journey.
With that in mind, we’ve asked our executive team to share some reflections on this year’s NAIDOC theme, and our reconciliation journey so far:
As we move forward, we aim to integrate the wisdom and perspectives of First Nations people into our ways of working, creating a more inclusive and culturally safe environment for all.
Together, we can ensure that the flames of Indigenous culture continue to burn brightly, enriching our nation and paving the way for a future where the stories, traditions, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are cherished and celebrated.
