Kinetic IT secures $23 million federal government IT services partnership

Kinetic IT has been awarded the contract to deliver end-to-end federal government IT services, and support digital transformation and technology uplift for the Federal Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts (DITRDCA).

Kinetic IT’s services will span end user support, including national service desk and deskside support; infrastructure management, including the department’s Microsoft Azure cloud and legacy environments; and network management services. The federal government IT program will also see the creation of ‘Tech Bar’-inspired walk-up zones for staff to receive IT support across several key regional locations nationally.

The initial 3-year contract is valued at approximately $23 million with three one-year extension options. The project will be supported by 50 new Kinetic IT crew recruited nationally, including 30 in Canberra with others in Hobart, Orange, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Roaming staff will also support the department across many locations in every state and territory.

Kinetic IT commenced transitioning into the federal government IT environment in December 2023, with transition activities to continue through to May 2024.

Federal government IT partnership latest win for Kinetic IT

The selection marks Kinetic IT’s first full-service federal government IT contract, and follows its most recent IT service and integration management partnership with the Australian Taxation Office announced in June 2023.

Kinetic IT has a track record of successful delivery of similar end-to-end IT service programs in the private and public sector with Qantas, WA Department of Education, WA Police, Victoria Police and V-Line. Kinetic IT is one of the largest Australian owned and operated IT services companies with a team of more than 1,400 crew. A raft of customer wins will drive expected growth to more than 1,500 employees nationally over the next two years.

Kinetic IT Chief Executive Officer Michael North said being selected by the department through the competitive procurement process recognised the company’s deep transformation expertise and unique sovereign capabilities.
